What’s in my bag?
I have had this blog for almost 5 years now and surprisingly, I have never done a classic ‘what’s in my bag’ post. With the birth of my new baby aka the purchase of my Loewe Puzzle bag, I figured this was a good time. So, this bag hasn’t left my side every since I purchased it three months ago. It’s even better than I thought it would be and carries a ton without looking too large. I would say it’s a medium sized bag compared to my Céline trio and Mansur Gavriel bucket bag.
Let me start by saying that I don’t like a cluttered and messy bag. For the longest time I just threw everything in there which mainly led to frustration. I could never find anything. So I decided to divide everything over different smaller pouches. How Marie Kondo of me, I know.
The essentials I carry my cards in a Louis Vuitton key pouch together with my key. Yes, just one key. Funny story, I was once in a meeting in which everyone had to introduce themselves by their keys. So everyone had these long stories about each and every key and I was like: this is the key that opens the door to my house *awkward silence*. Long story short, everyone agreed that that one key said a lot about my personality, LOL.
To be honest, I was never a big fan of Louis Vuitton. I like some of their SLG’s (small leather goods) but those, albeit classic, prints rarely look good on larger bags, in my opinion. It’s just too out there for me, I guess. Anyway, I bought the key pouch on a whim on a trip to Amsterdam with Ellya last year and love it. I never have to search for my key anymore as it is attached to the inside of the pouch and it holds all the cards that I need.

Louis Vuitton mini pochette It contains a few emergency supplies (bandaids, ibuprofen etc.), hygiene products as well as a few beauty items. I’m amazed at the amount of stuff I can fit in this small pouch; HEMA SPF 50 sunscreen stick, a tin of classic all-purpose Nivea creme, Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb, Nars Dolce Vita lipstick, Chanel Les Beiges lip balm in deep, RMS lip2cheek in Illusive and Blistex MedPlus.
Headphones I can’t leave for work without my foldable noise-canceling headphones. My commute is at least 1,5 hours on public transportation and I need my peace and quiet, especially in the morning. I mostly listen to Spotify or podcasts. If you have any recommendations, let me know.
iPhone 8 I don’t switch phones very often so don’t expect to see me with the latest iPhone. If it works, it works. I rarely make any phone calls and mostly use the internet, WhatsApp, Spotify, Instagram and a few games such as nonograms and FarmHeroes (level 1328, what’s up!) to kill some time on the train.
Chanel Palette Essentielle I don’t use a lot of makeup. Mostly tinted moisturiser, mascara and a lip balm or gloss. But this is a great three-in-one product that has everything that I need whenever I need to step it up a little. It contains a highlighter, concealer and blush.
Well, that’s it, I guess. This is what I carry with me on a daily basis. I get cold easily so sometimes I stuff a scarf in there as well. Just to be safe. Whenever I switch to a smaller bag, it’s just the key pouch, phone and a lip balm.
Tell me, what are your bag essentials?
Oooooooh is that mini pochette new? Nice! Did you get it at deBijenkorf store or PC? You also got the lip2cheek I see, do you love it? Your photo is always so beautiful Jessica. And finally we get to see your Loewe baby hahaha.
I think I pretty much carry the same stuff plus agenda and pen during weekdays. I hate carrying too much, I feel like I can never find stuff if I carry everything that I own haha.
Yes, it’s new. I bough it two months ago. They told me at PC that they are very sought after but got lucky on the website. I’ve had that lip2cheek for a year now and don’t use it enough, I’m afraid. That’s why I put it in my bag. So I’ll grab for it more often. I really like the colour. How about you?
I like the lip2cheek but yea same here I don’t use it enough. I find mine is quite drying now, not as emollient as when I bought it.
Wow you got lucky! I’ve been refreshing the website every now and then to get it too but no chance. Which is in the end worked out for the best for my wallet hahaha.
Oooh, I didn’t know you were after it too! I bought it really late in the evening, 23.00-ish. I was pretty surprised. De Bijenkorf had the mono last time I checked but I wanted the DE.
Came by to say that I never wanted another Louis Vuitton damier print thing after selling my speedy 30 a while back but your photo and how much it seems to fit into it, has convinced me that maybe I need the mini pochette in my life.
Loved this short and sweet what’s in my bag post. Reminded me of the old school youtube days. I’ve also said that I would do a what’s in my bag post and have still not done it. Mine is far less interesting and compact…it’s mostly receipts, random papers, and beauty things I never seem to reach for but insist on having on me 🤣
To be honest, any pouch would work, obviously. But I had to get a LV one *rolling eyes*. Oh well, it’s looks pretty? Haha. And it’s a tiny bag as well. You can use it as a clutch.
You should do one anyway! I love those old school posts. And LOL, I don’t even use all of the lip products that I take with me. So I’m the same 😄
I still love the “what’s in my bag”!
I have the same system in my bag; a small pouch from one of my best firiends, my MiuMiu wallet, a tote bag, my Avéne water spray and a hand cream. Oh, and sun glasses during spring and summer.
And then I have a drawer in my teak dresser that I empty my bag into to keep my bag neat. I used to carry around so many unnecessary things, this system really works for me.
However, I might need to add the Chanel palette – it looks so nice!
That reminds me, I still need a pair of sunglasses. I have been delaying the purchase for years but every summer I get so annoyed with the bright sun. Also, I sometimes carry a foldable tote bag as well when I know I’ll need to make a few purchases. No way that I’m buying something like shampoo and carry it in that bag LOL. That’s an accident waiting to happen!
Hi Jessica. Lovely post, love your blog. I have the same dilemma regarding sunglasses. Maybe you can do a post regarding this serious problem?;)Summer & sunglasses
Hi Raluca, thanks for the lovely compliment! I could do a post about it but I’m not sure how helpful I can be since I need prescription sunglasses. And omg, it’s totally a serious problem, hello wrinkles from squeezing your eyes 😉
Love love love the bag! You’ve talked about this baby day in and out so I feel so happy for you 🙂 the organization Marie Kondo like is great especially seeing how much things you can pack in the bag.
Personally I don’t carry a hand bag except my “geek” given laptop bag that carries just what I need… the laptop. But I slide in a Chanel makeup pouch I received from Adri in Eindhoven at the Chanel counter. It’s so beautifully made and I basically fit in eye drops and the Chanel trio thingy for the touch up. Can’t live without it!
I only carry the Celine trio when on a trip which is perfect as it has three pockets like the name says it. So I don’t need to organize that much. Easy peezy. Although I’m looking into a medium bag now (perhaps the sceau) to fit in the 10 items to pack challenge instead of my weekend bag.
Podcast wise, to keep me in line I love to listen to the minimalist podcast. Those guys are so well spoken and so entertaining with so many good life advices. I would re-listen to some episodes sometimes as they are so inspiring!
Long comment. Can’t wait to see you soon! August?
I should really visit Adri with you! I’m so curious to see if she would be able to give me some good makeup advice. Did you see that new product? Chanel Eau de Teint? Crazy expensive but it looks so nice and dewy with a hint of colour.
That minimalist podcast sounds nice. I have the rest of the week off but will check it next week for sure.
Let me know when you’re coming over!
Wat een super mooie tas!
Lief! Dankjewel. Hij is in het echt nog mooier 😉
That bag is so beautiful! I loved this post, made me so want a mini pochette to keep in my bag 😊 Always interesting to see what others keep in their bags.
Thank you 🙂 It really is! Ah, it’s just a pouch, really. Any cute pouch would work. So I hope I don’t give off the idea that one only needs designer things. But I do enjoy a mindful splurge every now and then.
No I think you have a good mix on the blog, of both designer and high street. I also have the key pouch so… 😊 Yes I also like a splurge now and then, wondering what’s next on my list.
I love these posts. Its quite interesting to see how different peoples “essentials” are.
My most used bag is my Celine trio (large) – its easy to keep neat due to the compartments but you really cant overpack it. I guess I am quite minimal anyway. who wants to lug a lot of stuff around ?!
I always have: my wallet (cards/money), Nuxe lip balm in the jar (so heavy!), a mini kabuki brush (powder application), Powder – MAC Prep & Prime Pressed powder compact, a small hair brush (I have a fringe), phone (iPhone 5s! – still working perfectly) and a linen shopping bag. Also my keys – I just have a car key, one house key & my grandparents house key on my keyring. I shudder when I see the clumps of keys some people carry.
Interesting that you mention LV – I dislike the monogram LV items mostly due to their ubiquity but I did purchase a vintage LV Noe (large) in black Epi Leather and I must say I love it. I think the Epi leather is so underrated! Its pretty tough and water resistant and also quite understated! Its more of a winter bag so I might not use it as much in the summer but I do like it and feel like its kind of a forgotten LV bag as the LV Monogram is so much more popular.
I love the trio. I don’t use mine enough. Mostly because I’m so careful with it so I only use it for specific occasions. Otherwise I’ll just grab my A.P.C. bag. How is your trio holding up?
For a long time I loved the Nuxe lip balm but when I didn’t have it on me, I bought the Blistex one and it’s honestly the best balm I have ever used. Too bad the packaging isn’t as lovely 😉 But at least it’s a lot less heavy!
Oh, very nice! I didn’t know that bag also comes (or maybe came) in Epi leather. I just googled it hehe. I once told myself I would never buy anything LV but that key pouch changed my mind. It’s so practical because I can attach my key as well. And then… well, once you carry something like that in your purse, the rest needs to be of the same standard hahaha.
I have my trio for about 3 years now – I picked the ox blood-ish colour.
Its doing quite well – I do use it frequently and while I am careful with it, I don’t let that hinder me using it as a practical bag. The corners are a little worn and the ends of the strap (where it meets the bag ) are also a little worn – the colour has rubbed from them. But overall its doing pretty well and has been all over the world with me!
I think its just getting over the fact that its an expensive bag and trying to use it normally but carefully! Mine has certainly got rained on and has been fine!
