Presenting one of my simple fall uniforms. It will come as no surprise that my striped shirts are still in frequent rotation. I wonder when and if I’ll grow tired of them. I have yet to acquire a classic breton striped shirt from Saint James, but it’s definitely on my list for when the time comes that one of my current shirts needs to be replaced. The rest of the outfit mostly consists of old loves, such as a navy Isabel Marant peacoat (I told you about my rather extensive coat collection, right? I could never be a minimalist), a pair of Zara chelsea boots which are unfortunately not as comfortable as I had hoped them to be when I bought them last year, and my beloved Balenciaga city bag.

The only new addition to my wardrobe is a pair of blue jeans that fits me perfectly. Now, I absolutely loathe trying on jeans or pants in stores (fitting room mirrors are the devil) but I made an exception during my last visit to Amsterdam because I ripped yet another pair of old jeans and I was desperate to find a suitable replacement. Turns out that these are a nice change from my usual black jeans while staying within the range of my preferred dark colour palette.

Left to right, top to bottom: Boots: Royal Republiq (€135,95), Jeans: Weekday (€45), Coat: Etoile Isabel Marant (old), Shirt: Saint James (€56), Lipstick: Chanel Rouge Coco Rivoli ($36), Bag: Balenciaga city (€1395)

Seriously? We’re almost halfway through October! Yeah, sorry about that. I’ve been incredibly busy at work and apparently I’m a terrible planner. So I’ll leave you guys with a couple of outfits for now. It’s getting colder and colder at the moment and I’m loving every second of it. Yesterday my boyfriend almost caught me trying on my wintercoats just for fun.

Regarding the outfits, I’m not sure whether or not I should post them because honestly, they’re kinda boring. Once I find a uniform that works, I stick with it for the time being. Hence the numerous pictures of me wearing a striped top and black loafers on Instagram. Unfortunately I’ll have to say goodbye to the latter for now because they’re no longer weather appropriate.

Okay, so I’m cheating a little here. Because the picture in the upper right corner isn’t really an outfit. But I had to take a picture of my new coat for obvious reasons. Although it doesn’t neccessarily stand out, because I only tend to take pictures of outfits I wear during the colder days of the month as my outfits for 25 degrees and up are even more simple (and boring?) than the ones above.

The loafers are a huge hit. I’ve been wearing them almost every day. The same goes for my striped shirts, they make it so easy to get dressed in the morning. I don’t have to ask myself whether or not I need a blazer or a cardigan to spice things up, just the shirt itself is enough. Rainy and colder days also require a coat, so my Isabel Marant trenchcoat is back in business. I bought it somewhere in 2010 on sale and it has been one of my wardrobe staples ever since. Sometimes I wonder if I should wear it as much as I do, because it will be so hard to find a suitable replacement. I’m especially fond of the colour, not too beige or khaki but with a slightly greenish tone.

I love myself a striped shirt and would almost go as far as considering anything striped a wardrobe staple. It’s a timeless piece of clothing that oozes Parisian chic when worn with a pair of black trousers and simple ballet flats. Oh, but you’re not into that so-called French effortless look? No problem! This piece easily transcends style genres and can be worn in countless different ways (see here).

Choosing the right striped item for your wardrobe can be a horrendous task. I mean, the options are endless; thick or thin stripes, blue, grey or black stripes (if you’re going for the classics) and what about the fit? Tailored or loose? My current favourite is the one above, a grey striped blouse made from airy lightweight-cotton, perfect for the office during a hot summer day.

How do you like your striped shirts?
